How much does your officiant cost?

How much does your officiant cost? Any reccommendations?

It is a non-denominational wedding, btw

i'm not having one. i think paying $500 is too much $$$,... so i'm just going to do everything in city hall a few days before...

but i do have ceremony at my hall.. :) my readers and the people 'marrying' us will be the ones i'm closest to.. my sisters! i think that'll be a bit more intimate.

I actually had considered doing that also! I was lucky enough to get married in my home church where the Pastors (husband & wife) don't charge. We just gave them a generous gift (definitely not $500 tho!!). For a bit I was worried that they wouldn't be able to perform the ceremony tho (do to their schedule) and i was NOT willing to spend that much money of an officiant that I don't know. Made me sick to think about. So me and DH agreed that if we can't have them, then we'd rather just go to City Hall and get it done a day or two before and then we'd have a 'pretend ceremony' just for show with somebody we love performing it. Either that or get my sister ordained. lol.

So you're not alone in feeling that officiants overcharge for their services!!

haha!! thank goodness i'm not the only one who thought about it!! :) $500 is waayyy too much! i rather upgrade on something for the wedding than on a half hour ceremony!

I'm paying $700

$550. She was worth it, it's not just the half hour you are paying for...it's all the planning and the writing of the ceremony, and the time they spend with you to make it right and personalize it.
