How much for 40th birthday gift?

Hi,

Ok, going to surprise party for one of my BM and since I'm having a brain block as to what to get her I'm going to give her money, as is our other friend. How much do you think I should give?

Can't wait to see her face tomorrow night; she thinks she's going to our engagement party!!

I don't think there is a right amount for a gift - it's more what you feel you want to give and can afford. Could be $20, could be $200 depending on your situation.

How about a restaurant gift certificate?
Or just $40 in a card...=)

IMO 40 is a big birthday, so i would give a little more than usual, so if you would normally give $40, give 50 or 75.
