how much are you spending on the photographer and what does that include?

3300 for all pics, 100 photo album. 2 parent albums, 100 thank you cards. pics on CD after and all rights to reproduce.

3100 for 2 photogs all day (up to 17 hrs), all images on cd, e-pics were included but we already got ours done. No albums.
ETA we own the rights so we can make our own albums, prints, etc.

We are spending $5200, which includes:
2 Photographers - 10 hours 1Videographer - 10 hours 3 edited wedding DVD's 1 12x12 Album - 80 pictures 3 6x8 Parent albums - 25 pictures each Appx. 1,000 Hard copy proofs All proofs on Photo DVD 150 Thank you cards 1 16x20 Enlargement
ETA: We will own the rights of our photos

Our package came out to around $2700 and that is for 11 hours of shooting with 2 photogs, 500 printed proofs, 2 DVDs (1 with re-touched and 1 with all the untouched photos).

free! My brothers girlfriend is a professional! photog and my bro is really good himself. They actually asked me if they can do the wedding., and said they would do it for free. Of course they're getting a nice gift in return.

what does it mean to own the rights of your photos? Is this something standard with most photographers or do you have to ask for this specifically

Rights to your own photos mean you can reprint them whenever and wherever you want. If you don't have the rights, it means if you want reprints, you need to order through your photographer, who will likely charge a lot of money for the reprints.
I think a lot of photographers do give you the rights to your photos, but it's really best to ask them if they do and make sure it's clear in your contract.

Who is/did everyone use? Those who have received their pics/video back, are you happy? Those who didn't mention it, for video, are getting all of your raw footage as well?
