I found three bridesmaids dresses that I really like. One is $135 plus alterations and the other two are $179 plus alternations. Plus I get a 10% discount. Is $179 plus tax and alterations to much for the girls to pay.
I don't know why but, I feel bad making them pay for all this wedding stuff.

Why not let them vote? I had mine vote on a few, knowing the prices. Some of them are willing to pay more if it's a dress they like and could wear again. From what I know, $179 isn't too bad. I kept mine under $140, but that's just me. The dresses I picked varied from $105-$139 and they ended up picking the $139.
Shop around for prices too. The dress they picked was first quoted to me at over $200. (Of course, they all told me they couldn't afford it over $200) Good luck!

Honestly, I'm sure they'd be a lot happier knowing that you picked a dress that flatters them more and looks great, then more expensive by a few bucks.
My girls (one of which doens't have a job at 26) are paying $200 with alterations for thier dresses.
They said, they were greatful for $200 b/c they've paid $300+ for other BM Dresses they've worn.
I say you should make a decision based on the actual dress than the price.
BM's understsand that when they say 'Yes' to being in your bridal party that a dress comes along with it! If they pay half at a time, they won't feel the pinch!

I don't think that is too much at all....the girls know that when they were asked to be in the wedding that it would cost $$ so I am sure that they will be grateful that it is in the hundred range.....that is pretty cheap for BM dresses.

My dresses were $200. I paid for my OOT bridesmaid dresses. They paid for alterations.

my BM's dresses were that much. I also felt guilty about asking them to spend that much since they will also pay for alterations, shoes and to get their hair & makeup done. But I've been in 4 weddings, that's just the way it is when your a BM.

I agree with the $200 rule. Anything more than that and I'm going to pay the difference for them.
I've been in 3 weddings, and thankfully each time the dress and alterations were less than $200. Although once the shoes and dyed became a factor, it was more!!! Thus the reason I am insisting on silver strappy sandals.

my girls paid $190 plus alterations...so I think your price is average. But, we did separates. If I could have found a dress that was $135 I would have went with that

The $200 or under rule seems reasonable to me, too. But it all depends on the girls' budgets. There are a lot off additional expenses involved in being in a weddding party - if you've ever been a bridesmaid, especially in an OOT wedding, you know.
Everyone has to be involved in the decision I guess.

mine are 159.00 and a cap of 65 for alterations... we bargained a bit for the dress... they were fine with the price...

I think under $200 is a good rule of thumb, however, I think it's up to them. If the BMs, however, have higher budgets/better careers I think they might want to wear a more expensive gown.

My dresses were $150 and $165. The girls were very happy paying this and didn't feel it was too much. One of my bms has paid over $300 for a dress. I agree that under $200 is good.

I think it's reasonable..that's how much things costs. Not all the time can you get the cheapest.
