Ive been dress shopping this week and found 2 dresses I loved one was 1500 and the other 3000. what is the average price?? I also had some nightmare service @ one place....are there any reccomendations I live in Suffolk Thanx!!

I refuse to spend more than 600 on my dress but that's the way I am. So I would say tooooo much! I also live in California and found dresses to be cheaper than NY when I looked.

I personally think that those prices are in the range of a nice, well made dress. I would not hesitate if you love it!

I personally think those are a little up there, but people spend even more on gowns, so I don't know. Go with what feels the best and makes you happiest.

I don't think those prices are too much if the dresses are good quality. I spent even more than that. I am a firm believer of 'you get what you pay for.'

That's WAY too much in my opinion. My dress was $545 plus accessories and alterations.
My advice, keep shopping!

i wasn't planning on spending as much as i did on my dress, but i did and i love my dress. if you love a dress for 500 great, my dress cost more and i didn't want to have a dress that i didn't love.
3,000 is a lot, but if you love it then go for it. if you don't love it, then i would wait.

There is no average price - there are gowns that are $99 and gowns that exceed $9,900+.
Which one makes you feel like the most beautiful woman in the world? Ask someone to take pictures of you in the gowns and see which one you like better that way also.

My dress was $1050. I got mine at Paradise Bridal and the people there were nice to me.

in my opinion $3,000 is a lot of money for a dress that will be worn once and then stuffed into the back of a closet.
BUT...
that's just me. My budget would never allow it.
SO...
if YOU really love it and it won't hurt YOUR budget, then YOU should get it because its all about what YOU want and not about what WE think.
(How's that for an opinionated, yet situation considerate answer? -I've been reading the pet peeves...LOL!)

I totally agree with you!
My dress was under $600 and I LOVED It!! it fit me perfectly, flattered me and had some unusual designs on it and you know what....it got cleaned and boxed up just as if I would have spent 2 or 3 times that amount!!

I think you should go with whichever one is in your budget and you LOVE. I would not consider going outside of your budget to buy one. As the other girls said you wear it once

I tried on some dresses that were 5000+ and I have to say, they were outrageously beautiful and totally spoiled me on the less expensive dresses. I went to a lot of places, and once I had seen the quality of the expensive ones, I could see that the cheaper ones weren't as well-made.
I didn't spend that much, but I did spend more than I wanted to. And yes, I'll only wear it once, but I'll remember it forever so it's worth it to me.
So the range of prices is huge, and I think the range you're describing is, sad to say, normal. But my experience was that the quality is really different if you're going for something with a lot of detailed embroidery or beading--with the 3000 dress you'd probably have high quality, whereas the less expensive ones might have beads glued on instead of sewn, thicker/less luxurious thread in the embroidery, etc. For a simpler style dress, I don't see why you would need to spend lots of money.

I spent a bit more than 3K, but my dress to me was so different from the average dress and was of such high quality that to me it was worth the price . . . It is what will make you happy that matters most

Elaina - I went to the Bridal Suite in Bay Shore (they are right on Main Street) for my gown. The woman who helped me look at dresses was very helpful and let me try on as many as I wanted (there was quite a lot of them). I ended up ordering my dress from them and it came in exactly when they said it would. I also went back with my bridal party and ended up ordering all 7 girls dresses from them as well as my flower girls dress. All the BM dresses came in sooner then the promised. I went for my first fitting about two weeks ago & my dress fits me to a 'T'. I have nothing but good things to say about them. The # is: 631-666-0700 if your interested in checking them out. I spent $1,400 on mine. I saw many that I liked that were both higher and lower. It depends on your own personal taste and what you can afford.
The dress I ended up getting was comfortable, light and just my style. The dress could have been $500 or $3,000, I would have bought it anyway.

nothing is too much for THE dress i would look around a bit more... you will know when you found THE ONE many people pay more than $3000

I know of a girl who's dress cost over 8k and I believe we had a poster who spent over 12k. If you have the $$$ why not. I wouldnt but I dont have the $$$ lol...
celebraties spend way more than 3k on their dresses so why not I guess.
