How much is too much?

How much is too much?

on photography? FH and I disagree as to how much we should spend. I feel that you get what you pay for, and am expecting to spend more on that than other areas. He feels we can find it less expensive. I'm willing to look at others, I'm just concerned about sacrificing quality.....what to do?

Photography and videography are both so important.
When the whole wedding is done, this is all that you have left.
I'm spending 1/3 of my budget on it.

photography is also one of my important vendors that im going to splurge on.. we booked with velvet and are spending 5,000 with video.. we have alot of extras, and thought it was worth the money.. we went to a bunch and loved them the best!!

Photography is one of the most important things to me -- it is one of the only things that lasts after the big day is over, and I can really see a difference between quality and not-so-much.

Video (to me) is a different story. I want a video so I can have it to look back on, but I didn't need anything fancy or extravagant. The video we are going with is the basic package and it's still nicer and more than I think we needed.

What is important to you?

The photography was the number one thing to me, so we budgeted back some other things to make sure we had room for the photographer we loved.

There are very good, very reasonable photographers out there. Remember, a good chunk of the cost of a photographer is in buying product after the fact.

Can you live without a 10x14 picture of yourself? Personally, we can do just fine without it.
Are you the type of person who likes to put together albums or scrapbooks?
Maybe you don't even need prints, just unwatermarked images on a disc that you own and can print whenever you want. Consider making your own wedding album with Blurb or Picaboo, and/or making your parents albums.

What you need is good images, well edited, inside the album, no one cares about the cover. Just make sure that you're spending your money on the work, not the packaging, and you've got a good deal.

Photography is very important to me so I splurged on it. FH and I also disagree on cost but I didn't compromise on it because I will have those photos forever. Do what makes you happy he will get over it.

i'n going to spend atleast 5000 on them... you get what you pay for.. plus pictures and video you only get once chance to do it right.. i'm not willing to risk quality for going with something cheaper...

Besides our RH, the photo & video is the next most expensive thing. I wasn't skimping out on this...we went all out because this is something that will truly last for the rest of our lives! We are spending about $9000 for both! I went to quite a few before I fell in love with SilverFox! They are fantastic!

FH and I had two different views on this.

He said either 1 photog and 1 video or 2 photgs and no video....

I won. I have two photgraphers a videographer, and the dj company were using has a photography package that we are using too...

Its now the running joke that we have 9 photgraphers, but there is no way i want to miss a moment of this day. Everyone says it goes by so fast, i want to capture it all....

We went to a wedding in May and they probably had the same DJ as you b/c one came with the DJ plus the photographer had his own and thier were two regular photographers running around as well. Half of the guests could not see the ceremony b/c of the paperazzi and the reception felt like a movie set. It was very intrusive and not pleasant for the guests.
