Iam on a budget too! What I am doing is keeping everything at the minimum of what it costs except for whats important to me. For instance photography I think is important so Im splurging on that. I hope that helps

My moms friend who is a wedding planner told us to double the cost of your reception hall and that will be the cost for the whole wedding and she was right in my case. I'm sure you can cut a few corners though

I agree with what everyone else is saying: decide what's important to you and make that what you spend your money on. You don't have to have EVERYTHING. :) and also, if you come up with an overall budget and type it into an online wedding budget calculator that would show you an average of what to expect to be spending on each thing. I use wedding wires budgeter

When I first started planning my wedding, FH and I were students with no income in sight. We knew within 3 years we would have jobs but basically we only knew we wanted to pay reasonable prices, we couldnt come up with a budget based on a mystery salary. So here is my advice:Step 1: online research everything, but one vendor at a time. After the hall, photographer is usually most important. Find out what you like, and what it seems to be going for. Read these boards and don't hesitate to ask brides to FM you quotes.
Step 2: Pick a reasonable price that makes you comfortable, and somewhat matches what you found in your research. For example I haven't found a makeup artist that matches my idea of a reasonable price. So, I am still searching.
Step 3: seek out only those vendors that fit your bill. Dont fall in love with someone expensive and expect them to meet your number. They might come down, but believe me youll go up too.

I agree with the ladies above.... Do your research and figure out what is most important to you. If you're good at DIY then that can save you money too

I created an excel spreadsheet that lists every single expense (stamps, tips, invites, garter etc) based on what we could afford to save every month & did it that way. Thankfully I have two sisters who were married before so they gave me an idea of how much things costs. However, they spent 10k on video & photos & my budget is half that. FM me if you need help. It can be overwhelming

We are on an extremely tight budget. We were first looking at all inclusive places but I felt they were lacking in stuff I wanted. I did a lot of online research to find inexpensive florists and photo/vid/dj. We got an amazing packages deal on out photo/vid/dj and I went with in season flowers and low centerpieces which is saving us a fortune. Research and talking to people is the best way to go.Welcome New Vendors
