How much is to much to ask from your bridal party?? I know my girls are not poor but I dont wanna ask to much from them.
dress is $160 and possibly $100 for bridal shower and hair and makeup????????

I think that's more than reasonable. I don't know how much my girls are spending on Bridal Shower and such but their dresses are $200 and they still need shoes and jewelry, which will not be much more. But once they accept the responsibility of being in the bridal party, they accept the expenses. Plus, I bought their bm gifts and spend about $115 for each bm and about $400 maid of honor (she is my sister and wanted a Nintendo Wii).

I think thats about the norm, mine are paying $140 for their dresses & still have to buy shoes. I am buying them the jewlery for day of and would love to pay for there hair and makeup but its just too much. One of my BM said the other day that its the BM responsibilty after agreeing to be in the wedding to pay for these things, which made me feel so much better!!

Don't forget shoes and they're going to buy you a wedding gift and a shower gift. being a bridesmaid is expensive.

I have taken into consideration all the expenses they have t pay and I feel bad even asking them to buy the dress.
any past brdiesmaids out there think this is to much????????

We've all been bridesmaids. When you agree to do it, you know there are expenses involved. You'll presumably be their bridesmaids one day too. You can always tell them that they don't have to give you a shower gift.
My little sis got married last year. She was young, only 23, so a lot of her bridesmaids were coming straight from college with no $. They didn't give her shower gifts or expensive wedding gifts because she told them not to and she was just glad they could be part of her wedding.

I have been a bridesmaids many times and spent about an average of $300 on the dresses (with alterations) plus shoes and makeup. In a recent wedding the girl said any silver shoe which is great b/c I can rewear! I have also been to travel away bachlorette parties (miami, pr, ac, etc.). I always know it will cost a lot to be in the wedding but I put the money aside b/c every girl I ever accepted the BM honor from was someone I loved and cared for and knew would be a friend forever. And soon, they will do it for me!

i figure for my friends wedding ill spend about 225-300 for the dress depending on if i have to pay for alterations, i dont remember if they are included.....plus shoes which will most likely be at least 50
i gave her a gift for her eparty i think like 150 or 175
i have to get her shower gift probably another 150
dont know if i have to chip in for the shower yet
whatever expenses for the bachorlette party - 100 or more
make up 65-100 not sure how much yet hair 85 manicure/pedicure 35
