How much $ on favors perPerson or perCouple

How much do you think is reasonable/too much/too little to spend on favors?

If you do them per person?

If you do them per couple?

Once we add up the cost of the favor and the wrapping for it, I think it comes out to just under $3 per person. We are doing per person, not per couple favors.

I don't remember my exact amount, but it was between $8-12 per couple. We had 3 favors.
