How much postpartum hair can partum from my head?!

Any BTDT Moms know? I am losing hair by the handfull. It's quiet disgusting and annoying - it's everywhere. I mean literally hundreds of hairs come off my head in the shower or if I run my hands through it. Does anyone know how long this lasts?!!? I'm not quite worried about going bald (yet) but it's just the annoyance. I can't wear anything dark without seeing tons of hair on my sweater, it's always on the baby, it's always clogging the drain, it's always everywhere!!!!!!!! Yuck!

I can't remember how long it lasted but it is part of the reason why I cut my hair after Patrick was born.

I actually had spots where my hair was really really thin postpartum I looked like I was going bald, and I have thick hair. I was so devastated. But by the time Geno was about 5 months it was practically all grown back in. So I totally get how you feel.

Liz, Im LAUGHING, sometimes i forget about what I just went through, and just think its totally normal. I lose a handful of hair every morning !! Johns always like 'your hair is EVERYWHERE !!!'

I did hear that its normal to lose a certain amount of hair per day...

Anna-I'm the same as you. John thinks I've should of been bald YEARS ago!! When I brush my hair I lose about 100!!!

Oh my !! I went thru the same thing!! I locst so much hair the shower drain clogged every time I took a shower --- I think it stopped around 6 months ---- You'll be happt to know my hair is back to normal !! It was very scary!!

Liz, I'm sorry! I know what a PITA this part of postpartum is! I had really bad hair loss for about the first 4-5 months. After that, I am pretty sure my hair loss went back to what it was before I became pregnant. Are you still taking your prenatal vitamins - that might help decrease the severity of your hair loss. I remember my doc telling me that...

I know this isn't funny but the title of your post was cute.
Although I have never given birth, I know it's normal to lose up to 100 hairs a day and I have learned through friends that have given birth, it stops anywhere from 3-6 months after birth and it all comes back.

My hair started falling out at like 5 months and stopped at about 7 months. I dont have any bald spots. It eventually stops falling out. I know its scary but it'll be over soon.
