I know there are a million tipping threads, but I didn't find a definite answer. How much should I tip my 9-pc band?

Re: how much should I be tipping the band?
I read on another posting that it should be $50 per person but that doenst seem like alot.
I am really broke because we are paying for our won wedding. I am not sure how well this tipping thing is going to go over!

I was planning on tipping the band about $5-$8/hour/person.

I think the tipping depends on if they work for themselves or for someone else. I think if it is like a Franklin Wayne Band where they work for him, they would get a tip. Not sure how much though.

I sang in wedding bands for a few years. Most people do not tip and honestly, most bands don't expect it. Its a very nice gesture though.
BUT if they go out of their way to learn more than 2 songs for you that they didn't have on their song list, I would def tip them for it. It can take several hours for them to learn 1 song. It's a lot of work.
