How much should I expect for the florist?

I will have approx 22 tables, 3 BM, 1MOH, 1 mom, 1 MIL, 8 GM and 2 ring bearers (boys), and us. I am not picky about the flowers (so she says now ) and will defintately use in season flowers (end of May).
Thanks

Re: How much should I expect for the florist?

It really all depends on what you want and the florist you use. We got quotes ranging form $3,000 to $6,000 depending on what we did and who we used.

Re: How much should I expect for the florist?

Flowers are one area where you can save lots of $$ when it comes to a wedding. For my July 4th wedding this year, I had 20 centerpieces made, my boquet, 6 bridesmaides boquets, 1 MOH boquet, 7 Groomsmen bout, 2 moms corsages, 2 GM corsages, 3 Fathers / Grandfather bout, 1 male usher bout, 1 female usher corsage, rose petals for my flower girl and finally one ring bearer's bout made up. I used the Town Florist in Massapequa Park and spent a grand total of $1,400. For contact info on this topic (contact info on florist) or to see a sample of centerpieces and my boquet, see the earlier post on this topic that says who's the best florist on long island. As long as you pick in-expensive flowers, you can have beautiful centerpieces and boquets! If you need further info, I can be contacted at [email protected]

Best of luck with the Planning!

Re: How much should I expect for the florist?

The tables are going to make your flower bill add up quick. What kind of centerpieces do you want? The bots are no big deal, and you don't have a lot of BMs. If you are doing high-centerpieces you can spend $100-$300 a piece. That is where most of your flower $$ will be going.

Check and make sure that your reception hall doesn't provide centerpieces. This is one area that I saved money since my reception hall provided them already - I just told them what color flowers I wanted in there.

Re: How much should I expect for the florist?

I have no ideas yet as to what kind of flowers I would like. I will start looking at websites - any suggestions? Is this something we do by ourselves, or is this a FH thing too? I was thinking of bring my MOH - she's an artist

Re: How much should I expect for the florist?

Our list for the florist was similar to yours, and we got quotes ranging from around $ 1800- $ 2800.

You will save lots of money by going with in season flowers and steering clear of exotics or imports. Roses are classic, beautiful, and reasonably priced. Like michele31 said, if you're trying to save, steer clear of high centerpieces. I was surprised to hear how much more they cost!

Have in mind the amount you'd like to spend, and ask the florist to work with it. They can be very creative! I told our florist that I did not want any baby's breath, Queen Ann lace. They suggested lots of neat fillers like berries and wheat grasses and curly willow (fall theme).

Good luck!!

P.S. VickiC, your flowers were absolutely gorgeous!
