It is a Sterns & Foster, pillow top queen sized mattress, and I bought it 4 years ago. It is is great condition, I always had a mattress pad on it.

I paid 800 for it, and it is in great condition, we just deicded to buy a king size bed, with our new bedroom set, and we don't wnat to take up that much room in our guest bedroom.

That's what I was thinking....I don't think I could buy a used mattress...even if it was a friends...
honestly - I think 4 years is old for a mattress (not that I would get rid of mine after 4 - but I wouldn't really want someone elses)...so I would think $20-50 is all someone would pay for it...at a garage sale or something...

I was not asking who would buy a used mattress, my mom or friend want to buy it from me, but I was asking what is a fair price, not for an opinion on it is was gross or not.

If it was my mom I would probably just give it to her in all honestly. Someone else maybe $200? I am sure you spend over $800 on it orginally. Why are you getting rid of it?
But I don't think normally strangers buy used mattresses. You know these people so it is different.

Honestly I wouldn't sell it to family or a friend. But is they felt they had to pay me something, I wouldn't take more than $100. When Dh or I moved from apartments we gave ours away to those who would take them off our hands. I usually hear people pay about $50 (but that was for a full size and maybe not the best line of mattresses) but they would be responsible for moving it.

My mom wants to buy it from me, and wants to pay me a fair price for it, since I am getting a new mattress, since I bought a new bedroom set. I was goign to put it in one of the other bedrooms, but I figured that a day bed would be better, and my mom wants me to put the money for the mattress towards that.

Look on ebay to see what other people are selling them for. I cannot see someone giving you more than $100 for it, and thats a max price. Usually people sell used mattresses for about $50. You have to consider the fact that the mattress is 4 years old, and im sure it has plenty of use....Since you slept on it every night. That is a long time for a mattress. I know you paid $800 for it four years ago, but you will never see that money again... Good Luck
