I know I need to decide myself but I need advice. In one way I don't want to spand a lot because they die & what's the point. I went to Arcadia florist (in westchester) today & everything he showed me was so nice & now I want everything. It would be $3,700 for the church decorated, 20 huge centerpieces, 3 arangements for cocktail/reception area, boquets, corsages & bootineers, rose petals, everything (includng set up & delivery) Should I just do it or search for someone cheaper? Too many decisions

Re: how much should I spend on flowers
I spent about $1500 on my flowers and I was happy with the way everything turned out - my centerpieces were around $75/each - I had about 12 tables, some cocktail hr flowers, a few bouquets, corsages, etc - I would shop around a bit....

Re: how much should I spend on flowers
im not sure, do what you feel is best for your budget i know ppl that have spent 500$ and some that have spend 5,000$ on flowers [ seriously ] and both are unique in their own ways...
i wouldnt spend TOOO much, while they do make ur room look nice- eventually they die... and theyre only their for 4-5 hours however long ur reception is
id rather splurge on something i get to keep for a life time aka as PICTURES- get a nicer/better photographer or upgrade, or more albums..JMO
anyways shop around....i have 31 tables at the reception so god knows how much i will pay

Re: how much should I spend on flowers
a few questions...
what kind of flowers? Roses are not expensive, so if that is the flower of choice, it may be overpriced.... if it's exotic flowers, how much do you 'need' the exotic flowers..... if you really love them and it is important to you, then yeah, you should get them...
how HUGE is huge for the centerpieces? Could it even be too big for the tables in your hall? if you can, visit the hall and look at a table with plates and glasses. How much room is left in the center? will the flowers block your guests' view of each other? Or are the tables enormous and would look bare with a smaller centerpiece?
do your hall and church require all that ornamentation, or could it be trimmed down a bit? (our church is gorgeous and really doesn't need much at all to tart it up...)
hope this helps you find areas where you might be able to trim the cost!

I heard that flowers were expensive but I didn't realize that expensive. i was thinking of doing something really simple for the BM and CP, but I will have to go and price them

2 vendors I had sticker shock over....
photographer and florist....
the florist I originally was hoping to spend $700 or less.... we're having 8 low centerpieces, 2 bo-ks + mine, several boutenieres and corsages, and 18 pew decorations.... and I didn't want really pricy flowers (with the exception of my bo-k - all peonies)
So, ok, maybe not 700.... maybe 1k? HA! try 1350 - 1600 for stuff that will wilt a few days later
but you know, fresh flowers have been symbols of rebirth and weddings for thousands of years... so we do what we have to..... sigh

most likely...i have 25 centerpieces so she might be around 250 depending on how many seat at each table.
now to answer the flower question...Depending on what kind of flowers you have, for ceremony, bok's and cp's...if they are expensive flowers then for 20 high cp's which with expensive flowers are usually $175 each, then depending on how bok's you are getting, how many pew bows, arrangement for ceremony it might not be that bad...but like someone said, if you have mostly roses then it is too much bc roses are inexpensive. Ive seen alot of girls paying about $2500 for alot less cp's and bok's
If you have cala lillies, peonies, cherry blossoms or anything like that then the price is not bad.

Re: how much should I spend on flowers
It depends as others have said, on your overall budget. I would spend more on the reception. That said, 'huge' needs to be a little better defined, because HUGE might be those tall CPs that look gorgeous BUT have been put on the ground out of the way at every wedding I have ever attended where they were present. You want to keep in mind that if the CP are too high or wide, people can't see one another and it becoms obnoxious.
We went to a wedding where the bride paid about$250 per centerpiece and you know where they all ended up? In a corner of the room because one by one, every table took them off and put them over there so they could see one another. So they were not even enjoyed and the bride was extremely upset. Low CP are usually better.
Maybe if youpost pictures or describe the CP and bo-k's in more detail we can help you figure out whether the price if fair or not?

Re: how much should I spend on flowers
yikes that is a bit much but i think its because of the flower choice and the extent of flowers. I would take it down a few notches tell them what you honestly want to spend (i would budget more as people said on the reception and less on the church). I budgeted $1000 for my flowers (not decorated the ch chapel so that doesn't count) and i actually might get it less then that.

Re: how much should I spend on flowers
see i dont think thats that bad of a price for what you are getting. it does depend on the flowers you are using more than anything. my budget for flowers is about $3k - but i also want more than the typical cps and bouquets. and i work for a flower company so i reall expect to get more for my money than at an average florist.

Re: how much should I spend on flowers
I don't think it is over the top expensive...I am doing High and Low centerpieces, and along with all the bk's and boutanieres I am spending about 2300...and I don't have any church decorations (yet)

Re: how much should I spend on flowers
I think that that is a decent price for what you are getting. I went to Arcadia and told them my budget was $3K for everything and they basically told me I should do candles instead b/c the flowers would be more than that for 20 low centerpieces. If you have the money in your budget I would go for it

Re: how much should I spend on flowers
This really is up to you. For me, flowers were not important and therefore I went with with the best quality for the best price. I was not looking for elaborate centerpieces. I woudl prefer spending my money elsewhere.

Yes, we have 20 tables. We're inviting 230 but expecting around 200. Big Italian family
