How much should you spend on your bridesmaids/groomsmens gifts?

How much do you think you should spend on your Bridesmaids/Groomsmans gifts? After reading posts on here they are all over the place price range wise. I think we got everyone nice things but I don't want to seem cheap:

For the Engagement Party:

Girls received- Victoria Secret Zip Ups with their names engraved in them and VS lotion.

Guys received- Tickets to a Mets Game (they all went together over the summer)

Kids: Coloring Books, and fun craft stuff & Zip ups with their initials engraved in them

For the Wedding:

Girls are getting: Coach Clutches (purchased from the outlets) Pearl Dangle Earrings (Purchased from NY and Company) Fleece Sweater Wraps to wear when we are outside taking pictures because I'm sure it will be cold next month! (QVC)

Guys are getting: Guess Sneakers (they can wear during the reception to be more comfortable) and engraved silver cufflinks

Kids: Toys from the Disney Store &

Craft Kits with their names engraved on the carry all bags- http://www.exclusivelyweddings.com/Weddings/Wedding-Party-Gifts/Gifts-for-Others/Ring-Bearer-Gifts/Doodlebugz-Doodlebag-Red-Blue

Ladies let me know your thoughts!!!!

Usually you are spending on them what they are spending to be in the wedding. So your figuring for girls dress + makeup + hair + shoes etc. For guys tux rentals etc. You get the jist. Of course its what you can do financlly but that is the basic etiquette ive read!

I think what you're planning is fine! I've usually only gotten my DOJ and another token gift like a wrap or a pic frame or clutch so i think ur gifts are very nice! not to mention I have never recieved a gift at the e-party so that was very nice of you i think your ideas are great!!

Thank you girls! I try to be as creative as possible. If I factored in everything they spent with the dress, shoes, hair, makeup etc they would be receiving like $300-$350 gifts which unfortunately is not affordable with a 411 person wedding! lol

i def do not think you have to spend what they spent

the gift should be something thoughtful

I think you did a great job! I got my girls clutches from coach as well...I wasn't planning on getting them anything else

maybbbbeeee a cute tank top or some inexpensive DOJ no more than 75/80 per BM...100 on my MOH

I've never heard that before. That would be quite expensive if you have a big bridal party!

I agree that sounds like a lot... I have 8 girls and was thinking around $100 a girl.

i agree with this

i've never gotten more than DOJ or a things remembered jewelry box (max $30 spent) and i've already spent more than that on my BMs and i think that's more than enough IMO

FH and I spent $1500++ on my best friend's wedding in october because we were both in the BP, the guys had to buy $300 suits, my gown was $250 plus alterations, we gave a $500 gift and $300 on bachlor(ette) parties and $200 for two nights in the hotel. not inlcuding the $100 gift we brought to the shower which was 7 hours away in PA (plus tolls, gas, etc.), the $100 I had to contribute to the shower for being a BM (even though it was in a VFW) AND $150 to stay overnight in Bumble, PA, the $40 i had to spend the night before the wedding to buy supplies to make signs directing people to the wedding - and i did my own hair and makeup to cut costs - actually, that's closer to $2000 i got a $25 jewelry box with my name engraved on it, a blanket that her mom crocheted and mailed to me after the shower, and FH got a flask with his initials from things remembered. i'd say that's NOT equal - nor would i expect it to be.

a gift is a gift so im sure your BMs will be happy with whatever you gave them
