I just spent about an hour making a detailed chart of how long everything is going to take me..from my house, to the church, to the picture location, to the Reception hall..and it seems like an awful long time to be driving around,..
I'm trying to deceide between two churches and two picture locations, but no matter which way I do it, I'm driving for about an hour and 20min (at LEAST) to a little over 2hrs!!!!!... that seems like such a big chunk of time to waste driving...
I'm from Queens, so I guess thats why its a little longer...but how long is about average for the rest of you girls?
Also, where is everyone taking pictures? I love the Vanderbilt Mansion SOOO much that I think it may be an obsession but its 40min from Jericho Terrace...my other option would be Westbury Gardens, which is only 7min away...
So should I compromise time on my wedding driving around for pics that last forever?
Ahh..so many questions...sorry girls..my mind is wandering like crazy tonite!

Just so you ladies know, westbury gardens carries a hefty fee to take pictures, and if it rains you don't get the money back, there are lots of clauses and contingencies, so I would check the website, google westbury gardens to check it out.

Actually i did read the fee once, I don't remember exactly how much it was but I know it wasn't what I wanted to spend...I am having a REALLY hard time finding a place to take pics!!! I originally wanted to do beach pics..

Beach is a good idea, and it's free, I think it's around $400 for OWG, not to mention you have to have clearance for your limos and if there's more than a certain amount of people they charge you an extra fee!!!!!!!!!! As much as I wanted to go there, I don't think I'd want to spend the extra money ya know?

I totally understand where you are coming from! It wasn't even a place I was considering because I'm not so into flowers or anything..but my photographer suggested it to me since it was close to my reception hall...then she sent me pics and they blew me away. I'm really not sure if its worth the extra money though...
I really wanted to take pics at Sands Point, but they close at 4 , which makes it impossible!!!

It;s definitely hard to budget time, especially with an afternoon ceremony, at least the days are a little longer you don't have to worry about losing the sunlight for a little while, I loved the gardens but I'd rather spend the money on something else.

Re: How much time are you spending...
We're hardly driving at all... my mom's house is 2 mins from the church and we decided to just go to the Swan Club to take all our pics and save some time. So in total about 40 mins.

Re: How much time are you spending...
for me the longest drive is from my house to the church which is about 30 tops with traffic. after that, planting fields is about 10 minutes away from church and reception hall.
i would definately skip vanderbilt, and try the planting fields in oyster bay, theier fee is 120.

check out the Garden City Gazebo for pics... its free and its maybe 10 mins tops from Jericho Terrace... It looks beautiful in the summer with all the flowers

she meant the whole day period. Getting to the church, then to rh and also place to take pics
Well for me the church was about 10-15 mins away. Then from church to location for pics was about 10 mins. From picture location to RH it took us about 30-45 mins but thats bc we hit a bit of traffic that day, but we were on the bus and really didnt even care, plus we left picture location at about 6pm and ch didnt start until 7:30, so even with traffic we still got there early.
So it was about an hour or a little over an hour total. BUt since it wasnt an hour straight of driving it was ok, it was 15 mins here, 10 mins there and 30 mins there, so didnt feel like we were really driving alot

Re: How much time are you spending...
Yea I was having a problem figuring all this out too. My church is at 4 which is 5 min from my house and then I am going to my grandmas house to take pics with her (she cant leave her house due to health reasons) which is two blocks from the church.
Now I am trying to figure out how much time I will have to take pics. I was thinking of going to Eisenhower Park and taking fun pics on the playground if its allowed. My RH is about 10 min from there and we were going to take pics there too since they have a photo studio and they just re did the outdoor area and its gorgeous.
I really wanted to go to OWG or someplace like that but I dont think I am going to have alot of time and I dont want to feel rushed either.

I think you will find a way to get in all of the photos that you want - If they are going to last forever - whats a few extra minutes here and there - I would have loved to have the option to go to a few different places and take photos - since I am only able to do the ceremony at the RH - I only have the RH to take photos at.. but there will always be anniversary photo shoots

Re: How much time are you spending...
I'm doing very little driving. The church is about 15 mins from my house and since my RH is 3 blocks from my house it will only be about 15mins from church to RH and we are trying to do pics somewhere in between the 2.
