How Much Time Did You Give Seamstress For Alterations?
Hi ladies, just curious if 3 weeks it too long for alterations. I dropped off my dress yesterday and they say to come pick it up August 30th, My wedding is in Oct 1st! Should I ask them to hurry it up?
Oh and I have to pay 250 for alterations (hemming, bustle and taking in bodice) 'cus of all the beading on my bodice!! Is that high?
Thanks.

I dropped my dress off for alterations on Oct 15th and picked it up on december 1st - one day before the wedding. I don't think it's too long considering you'll have your dress a month before your wedding. I also paid $280 for similar work.

The only way it would be a problem is if it doesn't fit right on Aug 30th. And even then, they have a month to get it right. Don't lose any weight between now and then!
I have a more important question. Where are the PICTURES?!!?!?!?

why do you want to pick up your dress early? i picked mine up the day before my wedding so i didn't have to worry about it getting wrinkled or ruined in my house. i had had 3 fittings previously.
$250 is fine for alterations. mine were $225 and that was one of the lowest i've heard. it was $75 extra because of the fancy bustle i had (and loved!)

I didn't have a bustle (detachable train), but I asked for some minor changes to my dress. Mine cost $275. Getting it 1 month in advance is plenty of time.
