My fiance and I live in FL and he doesn't want to go up in december just for the license b/c of the plane tickets but i dont want to put it off for the last minute. he thinks two days before the wedding is okay...but i worry about the what ifs...
what do u ladies suggest?

You need to have your license issued a minumum of 24 hours before you can get married. You get your license the same day. So, theoretically 2 days before should be fine.

u can get your lic starting at 60 days before up to 2 days before.

as i had friends that had trouble finding the appropriate documents, we plan to get it a few weeks ahead just to be safe

2 days is fine, just make sure you have all the right stuff.
I would call the city clerk office you are going to before going there just to double check what they require. I have learned today that what is posted on the NYS website about marriage licenses really differs between places. The city I live in only will take a birth certificate, they will not take a baptismal certificate or any of the other supposedly ok things, but another one will. Since you are cutting it a little close you definiteiyl want to be prepared when showing up. Also, I think its cash only, just be prepared for that too.

Usually, what else besides your drivers license and birth certificate do you need for the marriage license? I will check the website before we go down there!
