we are having a friday night wedding the weekend of halloween. i would like to go to overlook beach or the arboridum (spelling?) in oakdale for pics. How much time do you think we need for pics if our church is in babylon and the reception is in hauppague? VIP said 3-4 hours but i think that is rediculous! i would like some people to actually attend our ceremony so i was thinking 4pm church (full mass) and 7:30 cocktail hour. what do you think? any newlyweds have experience with this?

I am using VIP also. I am doing church at 4:00pm and cocktail hour at 7:00pm. I think you have plenty of time!

I am not using them, But I am leaving two hours for pictures and my photographer said that would be plenty of time.

I am leaving about an hour and a half before my ceremony, and then a little bit of the cocktail hour if necessary

My church was at 4:30 and my cocktail hour started at 7. We had a full mass and our hall was only 15 minutes away from the church. We were told by our photographer that time was an issue and we had to take all of our pictures at the reception hall, which was fine with us. Because of this, we extended our cocktail hour...it was an hour and a half and we just made it to the end of it. You do need more time if you want to go somewhere other than the hall to take your pictures.

i was wondering the same thing... our ceremony is at 9:30 a.m. on Sat. (35 minutes or so from the reception site) We are taking pictures at the church and the reception hall. We both have 5 brother/sisters with children. We are taking traditional photos of the families. Is this enough time?? (the ceremony is approx 30 minutes) We don't want to miss more than 15 minutes of cocktail hour. Any thoughts on this would be great. Thanks

My photographer said 4 hours of pictures....so my ceremony starts at 8pm....and I need to be ready by 4pm.
