I am going this Sunday to my cousin's first child's christening.
How much should I give them?
Do I need to cover the plate also at the hall? They are having it at the same place they got married at 5 years ago.

We went to one about 2 months ago. I was going to give $100 but I brought a beautiful Christening frame, so we gave $75 plus the frame.

we also went to a Christening this weekend and gave $50. It's was for my best friend's little boy, so I wanted to give more, but after just having trees removed and a fence on the way - we're tapped out right now!!

We always give a bond... or try to... its double what you pay.. ie $100 bond = $50 out of your pocket

I know what you mean. We are renovating our whole house inside and out. We are living on every cent now. We still have no tenant in our apartment. Which we need desperately to help us out.

At the bank, DH usually takes care of it... But they give you a reciept that says ' a bondd has been issued in your name in the amount of $XXX and will be sent to you from the US reserve...' Or something like that.. It 'matures' when the baby is like 18... All you need is their address, and if you can get it, the babys social.. if not you can put it under yours.

...Nothing... DH usually puts it under his.. its either to who's buying it or the recipient.. they ask for either or... I guess gov't records? I never asked. Either way the baby will still receive it!

My husband was thinking of giving 200.
This is my first cousin also.
If we can get the bond in time maybe I will get one for 50 or 100.
What do you think?
Maybe also get something for the baby. A learning book or learning video?
