we gave a $50 US savings bond to DH cousin for hers. I don't know if it was right, but that's what we gave

i was thinking a $50 check, but I wasn't sure if I'm being cheap or not.
His parents were VERY generous to us at our wedding, so I feel a littlg guilty giving him so little....but we have a lot of expenses right now, and I dont' know if I can afford any more than $50.....we have $800 in vet bills this month from my cat

I think $50 is a good gift for someone of that age. Especially since they know you are newlyweds. DH's aunt was surprised we gave $$ gift!

Re: how much to give for a confirmation?

loooong story!!!
i'll try to keep it short.
my cat is 13 (14 in september) and i recently moved him in with tom and i. well, his face swelled up about 3 weeks ago, so i got all freaked out thinking he would die, and took him to the 24 hour vet....$128 and less than 5 minutes of examination later, they decided it was an infection in a tooth, and told u sto bring him to his regular vet.
so we brought him to the vet the next day, and they had to perform a tooth extraction surgery on him to get rid of the infected tooth (turns out it was NASTY!!!!)
so the swelling went down, he stayed overnight at the vet and they put him on antibiotics.
well, he apparently wasn't getting enough of the antibiotics, and the spot where they took the tooth from closed up and got re-infected! so his face started swelling up again on monday...so we brought him to the vet again, they took care of the infection from the outside of his face, and put him on a different antibiotic.
So now, he has half of his face shaved, a drain sticking out of his cheek and a plastic cone collar to keep him from playing with the drain...he is soooo pathetic looking!
but hopefully this time, it will be successful...i can't spend any more money on this cat!!!!

Oh the poor dear.

The exact same thing happened to my MiniPin when he was 11. He scratched the drain hile it was in his face & had to get it done a 2nd time.

I hope the cat is OK.... usually the drain and the antibiotics takes care of it.
