How much to spend on bridal party gifts??

FH and I went shopping for our party gifts last night and basically bought out Bombay & co. - we got the guys beautiful clocks and the girls jewelry boxes & picture cubes.... I'm wondering if we spent too much - we spent on average $40/gift for 11 people (we're on a tight budget, but of course we appreciate all that our friends have done for us). Just wondering, how much did you, or do you plan to spend on gifts? Thanks!

I haven't bought gifts yet, but am planning to buy ...

tiffany bracelets for the girls, plus a 5x7 picture frame (our plan is to give them a 5x7 picture of the bridal party after the wedding) coach wallets for the guys, and ? (not sure what else - maybe a picture frame too, but not sure what my FH thinks about that) So, I will be spending just about $100-$120 per person! It's a lot but I've seen more and less ... it truly depends on what you can afford and what you think the bridal party will like. Plus, all of our bridal party consists of people that are really close to us - mostly family too, so that's why we decided on the above gifts! Plus, we are cutting down our Christmas gifts that we'll make it up for their 'thank you'! But, please don't feel that you would have to match anyone else. The importance of the gift is not the price - but the 'thought'!

Since we are spending so much on the wedding, there is no excuse for us not to be generous with our party. All told Im sure I'll spend at least $200 each on my BMs if you include gifts, BM luncheon and hair on the wedding day.

Sara

I think your gifts are just fine. The gifts are about showing your thanks but within your budget. We spent a little more on our BM & MOH but the rest of our wedding party was our nieces & nephews and we spent about that much. It really is the thought that counts, not the amount you spend. Best wishes!

I think we all get so caught up on how much we spend on our weddings. Believe me it is easy to get carried away with everything. But the truth is our families and friends want to just watch as two people that they love start a new life together. When all is said in done, I bet very few people care if you have simple cake and punch or a huge bash. Your wedding party gifts are really nice and I am sure they will appreciate them a lot. You put a lot of time and thought into the gifts. You should not go into debt to buy the gifts. I am sure your Bridal Party would not want that.

I agree...I think your gifts sound great...For the guys we are getting them each a bottle of Johnnie Walker gold and a deck of cards (they all like to drink scotch and play cards together)... Im undecided for the girls...I want to get them some type of jewelry for them to wear, but I have not found the perfect ones yet. (any suggestions where to look?) For the kids...jr groomsman soccer ball with his name on it...flowergirl ???barbie bride??? charm bracelt...jr bridesmaids...probably the same jewelry as the adults.

Yabbobay- do you work in NYC?

I walked into a small shop on Pearl Street today. They had very nice silver. Not just plain chains but beautiful bridal jewerly. I was really impressed. What type of jewerly are you looking for?
