How much was your...

Cake?? I went to my baker this morning to pick out a design for my cake... He is my grandpas best friend and I know he does excellent work... I went there, not expecting a discount or anything like that, I just went to him because I know his work in unbelievable!

Anyway, I picked a cake with 3 tiers up the middle, a bridge on each side and 2 more tiers off each bridge.. Thats 7 tiers total... I also chose to have the water fountian underneath it...

My grandpa's friend REFUSES to take money from us... I told the bakers son that my grandparents are picking up the cost of the cake and they would really really like to pay for it... My grandpa even told them to charge us and give us a little bit off and they won't!

I know it's very nice of them and beileve me, I am not complaining, but how much is a cake like that usually go for, because either way, I am definilty going to try to slip him something!

TIA!

Wow thats so sweet of them! (no pun intended! ) i would just say thank you and send them a nice basket of flowers you dont want to insult them. I have been told this over the past few years. people offer b.c they want to do something nice.. if you refuse it can almost come off as an insult even thought you dont mean for it to.

Im sorry im not much help. i dont know how much a cake even goes for ours came with the RH

good luck!

wedding cakes run from $2-$10 per slice

a regular (non-wedding) tier cake runs about $20, right? It sounds like you're having 3 of these cakes, so it'd be about $60

You may want to give them a $75 or $100 gift certificate to their favorite restaurant instead of giving them money

Good idea! I'll do that because I didn't think about insulting them.

it depends on what type of cake not how many tiers, and how many people its for...cake prices are per slice

is it buttercream or fondant that will be the big difference

if its buttercream can be about $1.50-2 per slice

fondant can be anywhere from $5-10 per slice on average but some even go higher

Well the cake has to be big enough to feed about 225-245 people and they told me that fondant would look and most likely taste better than buttercream for the type of cake I picked... Its white w/ canoli filling... Plus I love the way fondant looks
