How much were your Bridesmaid Dresses

I saw a beautiful bridesmaid dress for $196, but one of the girls thinks that it is to expensive - I thought it was reasonble though. I was just wondering what was the cost of your girls' dresses? Thanks!

I think $196 is about average, from what I've seen shopping for my own bridesmaids, and being in other people's weddings. My own girls' dresses were kind of inexpensive, however. We got really lucky and found beautiful dresses for $118.

How much were your Bridesmaid Dresses

I spent about $300 on fabric to make 3 skirts & sashes for my bridesmaids & MOH (my gift to them) and then they purchased a silk blouse that I had picked out at Talbots - about $90. The big plus there is that they definately can wear the blouse again. Sounds like what your bridesmaid is really telling you is that it is beyond her budget - something to consider, especially if she's going to be expected to buy specific shoes, or other accessories.

I'm looking now

Im in the process of looking right now and it seems thats about the average of dresses...I saw one in a magazine that I loved for 225, but thatnk goodness when my sister and I tried it on it didn't look good...so we pulled about 10-20 more...we narrowed it down to 2...155 and 160 :) Whats even better is that since I got my wedding dress there, they are taking 10% off bms dresses...I said I would rather them have the discount then me, b/c its important to me that they don't break their banks (one of my bms is a NYC teacher and can barely make ends meet - thank you Guiliani) You could do a couple of things to help your bms. get them a $50 gift certificate to the store, pay for the alterations, buy their shoes and/or accessories for their gift, so it won't be as expensive for them.

It may be reasonable to you but not to them. Take into consideration the alteration cost, if they are tall most places charge extra for fabric, shoes, accesories and a gift and guess what? It's not their wedding and they are spending all of this money. Not to mention if they are coming from out of town. Also you might not know their finacial status at the present time. You should ask what they are willing to spend and go from there.

Chadwicks

I saw a nice, simple gown on the Chadwicks of Boston site. It was long with a satin type top and a crepe skirt. Very pretty colors and it came with the matching scarf/wrap to match for only $79.

Chadwicks

Christine, My girls are also going to try and order from Chadwicks. I've been a bridesmaid 5 times & I know how crazy prices can get; so I said if they all agree let's just go through Chadwicks for $69.

Chadwicks- we did it

we found a great dress--each girl ordered their own( 1 in ny, 1 in NJ, 2 in Mass)not one needed alterations-- even with shipping teh dress were under $100-- I had ordered one so they could try on to make sure they liked it--it was the easiest thing I did when i couldnt do anything ( I had reconstructive knee surgery 8 months before the wedding so those few mnontsh of planning were hard) so now I recommend chadwicks to everyone Enough babbling laura
