How much/often do you exercise your dog?

And what kind of exercise? Do you just take them for a walk, or do you throw a ball and make them retrieve it, etc?

I'm just not sure how much Bama needs.
Yesterday DH and I took him for a walk, and brought a ball with us for him to chase. It was kind of hot yesterday, and Bama was panting really hard. Even after we got home he was panting for like 20 minutes! He drank a ton of water and then threw up his entire lunch all over the carpet
We had fed him about an hour earlier so I thought we'd waited long enough to take him out for a walk. Maybe we should've waited longer? I just don't understand why he was panting so hard and why he threw up.
Boxers don't do well in the heat, but it wasn't THAT hot and he wasn't out for longer than 30 minutes. We didn't work him too hard either. I just don't know if I should be concerned.....

Casey plays in the yard for about 30min - 1hour every day, and I try to take her for a 30 min walk every day. Especially now that the weather is getting nice. When she comes in she is panting and always needs a drink of water. She usually takes a nap or rests for a little while too.

Maybe Bama just isn't used to it. He's still a growing baby

Maybe that's it - he's still young and shouldn't be worked too hard. I was going to ask the people on my Boxer message boards but they can be so nasty! If you don't search like every thread possible to see if the topic was posted already, they get all over your case!!!

Golem gets a 40-45 minute walk twice a day, then I play with him for about 30 minutes at night too. I wait to play ball with him until he's had at least an hour to digest his food. Then we go for a walk and 40 minutes later he's completly spent and usually falls asleep in the middle of the floor!

Last few days with the nice weather Golem has been panting a little mroe than usual after we come in from playing outside, but he just takes a big drink of water once we get inside and eventually settles dow. I'm sure Bama is fine though!
