How prepared were you when meeting with florists?

How prepared were you when meeting with florists?

I'm not sure what type of bouquets I want. Did you go there knowing what you wanted or did they ask you all the questions & help you? I have to go soon so any advice would be helpful.

Re: How prepared were you when meeting with florists?

I had general ideas and pictures from magazines. My ideas evolved over time with help from the florist, and we perfected them. I think some florists are better than others at this.

I went to see James Cress and he was more interested in his own ideas than mine. I wanted tulips and he starts making me a bouquet of roses!

Mike form Burtons didn't offer up any ideas - he just gave me a price based on my thoughts. (thats one of the reasons I wasn't impressed with him)

John from Flower Michele was awesome - he listened to what I liked and then added his own suggestions. He asked a lot of questions and it helped me figure out what I really wanted. It all came out wonderfully.

Don't worry - you don't need to have everything settled when you first visit. You and your florist will work out all the details as you go. Its a good idea (for pricing) to know how many of what you'll need, and a general feel for the bouquets (clutch vs, cascade, etc) and if there's any specific flowers you want.

I really had no idea...

I went to a friend of the family and sat down with their books and told them what I liked...They had books that showed all types of bouquets, centerpieces etc...

I was pretty simple though...I told them colors and then whatever was in season...

I'll tell you how they turn out in a few weeks!

I had no idea what I liked - not even pictures from magazines. I met with John from flower michele and together, we figured out what I wanted. Can't wait to see the finished product!!
