So I call a couple of DJ's yesterday to cancel my remaining appointments because I made my final decision. Can I just tell you that I called one place and the guy aked me why. I told him I picked my DJ and he immediately became pushy, telling me I HAVE to come in, because he'll change my mind. I kindly told him that I appreciate his willingness but I was confident with my decision. He then bashed my DJ and started telling me straightup LIES about my DJ. Now how unproffesional is that? It just gets me heated how 'unfriendly' this business really is. Ugh!! I wish the vendors would all play nice with each other. There's more than enough business to go around!!!

That is just so wrong. There is no need for vendors to bash each other. When the guy was finished ranting, I would have said 'Now I am not interested in meeting with you because of how unprofessional you just were' and hung up the phone.

Girl, he just wouldnt let me get off the phone!!!! But I thought the same thing. Im glad I canceled, because that was really childish of him.

I agree!! I would have went a step further and told him that you will not hesitate to NOT refer anyone his way and try to deter them if asked for your opinion.
When you are serving a demographic that relies so strongly on word of mouth referrals it's suicide to act this way.

I had the same thing happen with two DJ's - bad mouthing eachother, blah, blah, blah - totally annoying.
Did they actually think that carrying on like that was going to make you change your mind????

I had that happen with one DJ. Maybe not want to use him... Then he called me like 2 times to see if I made a decision yet? LEAVE ME ALONE!!!!!

That happens to me all the time too. There is a certain band that keeps calling me even after I told them I booked my DJ and can't afford a band

I have the same problem. Other than 2 catering halls that keep calling, every day I have between 4-5 messages from DJ's or bands. I think Im going to change my answering machine to 'hi this is Jenn I have all ready booked my reception hall, Photo/video, and DJ. If you are calling regarding any of these services please leave me your home number and i'll get back to you at 3 in the morning. thanks!!!'
