I have three small cousins (they will be 4 & 6 yrs by that time) that I want to have as ring bearers and flower girl. I have not asked my aunt yet, but when I mentioned the wedding and where and when it was, she got excited about hiring a sitter and spending the night at a hotel to get away from the kids. After that I could not bring it up. My FH also does not want kids at the reception. Our ceremony is at the same place with no time between and it's out on the north fork. My aunt lives in nassau county. Should I bring it up again and ask or should I just forget having a flower girl and ring bearer?? The possibility of having a babysitter come pick them up seems like a lot of work. I really want my aunt and uncle to have a good time and not run around after the three of them all night. Any suggestions???

Re: How should I approach this?
we are facing a similar situation too... we might handle it this way: the kids will be in the wedding/pictures and also go to cocktail hour but will then be picked up by a sitter at the RH and then the parents can party the night away without the kids getting cranky and also enjoy themselves more.
you might also do this option, which my friend did. her brother got married out at East Wind (we live W. Nassau) so her neices and nephew were in the wedding and at cocktail but then picked up by sitters (my other friends). the parents of the kids paid for the hotel room for the sitters out near East Wind and they babysat them out there. (my friends (the sitters) then went to the after party and the parents went to bed...)
hope that was somewhat clear... :) GOOD LUCK.

I would have them at the ceremony and see if you can hire a babysitter. My hall has a choldren's play rom on site. You may be able to set that up at your RH or the guest hotel. That way hey're in the ceremony and the beginning fo the reception if you'd like but then they're whisked away by the babysitter.

Re: How should I approach this?
We had a very similiar situation so we decided to just not have a flower girl or ring bearer.. It's just easier to not upset anyone who had plans of having a night away and it's easier on them to not spend the money on getting dresses/tuxes, etc!

Re: How should I approach this?
I will be using my neice for the flower girl (she will be just over 2 years of age). She will be in the ceremony and pictures. My sister will either have a babysitter pick her up or one of her friends will babysit and stay at the hotel the wedding guests will be staying at so she is able to enjoy herself at the wedding.
