How soon should I order bridemaid's gowns and my wedding gown?
I read posts all the time saying that it takes a long time to get the gowns in and then to make alterations.
I'm getting married in May '07, when should we start looking and when should I definitely order?

Some designers take anywhere from 8 months to 1 year for their dresses to come in. I ordered my dress around Thanksgiving (10 months before the wedding). It arrived in July. Remeber to factor in 1-2 months for the alterations. I think 1 year is plenty of time to order your dress. Depending on the dress, it could take as little as 3 to 6 months. You can start looking now t get an idea of what you want, but I wouldn't seriously start looking until at least sometime after September. For BM dresses, you'll be fine if you order them between 6 and 8 months before the wedding. Most BM dresses take 3 to 5 months to come in (plus at least 1 month to get all of the alterations done).

I'm moving fast because from Feb - July 27th I'll be studying and taking the bar...I don't want any added stress so I'm going looking for my dress this weekend!! I'm so excited!

Definitely get as much done as you can before the bar classes start. No need for added stress during the summer.

i already bought mine gown and my wedding isnt until July- it all depends on you but its def not too early to start looking!!

My dress will be in next month, as far as BM dresses I will be getting them 8 to 10 months before my wedding date.

I went to a showcase 2 nights ago and spoke with a rep from Bridal Reflections and she told me that if I plan on getting an Eve of Milady I should realzie that it might take anywhere from 9-14 months to come in after ordering!!! Even other designers can take anywhere from 9-12 months she said. So now I know I have to get going fast. I'll probably start looking for my gown in March and in Sept. for my bridesmaids

i already have my dress and i know what dress i want my girls to wear so its just a matter of them ordering it (hopefully sometime soon, i'm afraid the dress is going to be discontinued and they won't be able to order it if need be)
