How soon is 2 soon? NEED YOUR INPUT

Hi Ladies –

I need advice – my wedding date is Dec 14, 2007 and I really want to get a head start on planning and booking with vendors. I have heard Vinny from High Voltage is the BEST and I do not want to sacrifice on the entertainment. I contacted him and he said that I could book with him at anytime. If I do it now, this would guarantee that I would have him for the reception. So here is my question – is that too soon? High Voltage brides would you recommend that I book NOW? I am seriously considering it but I felt like I should ask for some advice?

What are the cons of planning this far ahead of time?

Any input would be appreciated it?

i'm booked for feb. 2007 with vinny...its never too soon..especially if you really want that particular vendor! the plus side is you lock in the price! i wanted to book vinny asap because i know he's popular and i was afraid he would get booked for my date...so i signed the day i met him ..hope that helps!!

I booked with him as well. He is only looking for 50 down to lock in your date. What do you have to lose? Plus he has so many 07 brides, there will be tons of reviews before your date.

Go for it, if you wait and find out later that he was booked for your date, you wind up kicking yourself for not booking sooner.

I booked my wedding two adn a half years in advance, and I think it's a good idea to get started as soon as possible, as long as you are sure of what you want. Had I waited any longer to book any of my vendors, I would not have gotten them.

If you want to book Vinny, I say go for it!! Of all our vendors, DJs were the only one that we didn't meet with a ton of people. We met only with Vinny and booked him on the spot.

I don't think it is too soon. BUT I would not rush either. I took my time and focused on one thing at a time so that I can feel great about my decisions. That is the beauty of having a long engagement you don't have to rush. Many of my friends rushed and regret it. good luck

PS. all the vendors are going to rush you and tell you that if you wait they may be booked later. But, b.c you are starting early the chances are slim unless you are choosing a holiday weekend.

It's never too soon. We booked everything so early that we had nothing to do until the 6 month mark. It was a great feeling. At least make sure you shop around first.

If it is a vendor such as Vinny, sooner than later is always better but some stuff can be put off. Just make sure your dealing with a well-known well-established vendor who is not going to be out of business by that time. That's all I was scared of but I still planned early and now I am only 8 months away!!!!

If you know what you want then take care of it now don't wait, just think the more you take care of now the less you have to rush around and do as your date gets closer.

Go for it! Our DJ was great, and over the summer he was already getting bookings for 2007. We were lucky to get him on short notice b/c he had a cancellation.

I agree...we only had an 11 month engagement and a few vendors I had wanted were booked already, needless to say I got amazing vendors and have no complaints but if you know you want someone, book now!

Its never too soon. If you want to book, then book. However I suggest you meet with several vendors for each thing before making a decision. Just because others love one, doesn't mean you will.
