Just heard a little while ago .. Ernie Anastas on CBS-news made a comment on how their weatherman had just gotten back from Florida, and was being sent back to cover Hurricane Ivan.
Sorry .. but just how stupid is this???? Do they really need to send a weatherman down there into danger???
Do we really need to see weather people standing outside in all the crazy elements that come about???
Seriously, this Hurricane Ivan has already done some serious, serious damage, and is supposed to get worse .. what could their reasoning possibly be for sending this guy down there???
THIS IS JUST PLAIN STUPID!!

He isn't even a meteorologist... just a plain reporter.

I know .. I know .. lots of media get sent into any 'news-worthy' type of situation .. no matter how dangerous .. I just think this is totally crazy .. same if Dan Rather is sent back .. or anyone else. It just seems so unneccessary.

If its major news... they are there. I don't agree with it... but what can you do.
Besides... I wouldn't be surprised if these guys actually ENJOY these trips. They probably live for stuff like this (especially the meteoroligists).

ratings....people actually get comfy watching a certain anchorman/woman. Hence why Dan RAther went down to Fla. People are loyal to him. Weird though huh?
What happens if one of them gets hurt? (legally speaking...can they sue their company?)

I guess they have to send down who ever people are familiar watching, but I'd watch anyone. I love watching storm coverage, I can do it for hours! It is in my family though...we all watch too much of the weather channel!
