The couple that sold us our home are such good people. They are about my parents age (60's I'd say) and they retired to NC and bought a gorgeous new home, in a wonderful community, God Bless them, enjoying their retirement years.
At the closing, the husband was in tears. Seeing a grown man cry that like, I broke down too. They were sooooo adorable (this is over 2yrs ago that we bought the house). Anyway, I told them ANY TIME they were in NY to feel free to come by for coffee/dinner ! They came twice (to NY)and were invited over with open arms, and both times, time didnt allow (They have their kids still here in LI and they always come when its an event/wedding, etc.). Well we also keep in touch via email. 'Only you' is what one of my friends said
Anyway, when John Anthony was born, she asked me for his weight/measurements, etc. I just got in the mail the most beautiful blanket. Wth all of his information (date, name, weight, height) sewn on, and the entire center of the blanket is in intricate detail. Teddy bears, etc etc. Its beautiful, and just to think that she took the time to make this !!
I wish they would really come by next time theyre here !! One of my friends told me maybe they dont wanna come in because it would hurt them so much, they were soo attached to the house, being here over 30 years and raising 5 kids here
How sweet is that ???????????
I'll post pictures soon...PROMISE !!

Re: HOW SWEEETTTTT !!!
That is sweet. Everyone should be so fortunate to buy a house from someone like that. When my parents sold there house in NY they left the new owner their 52 inch TV because they couldn't afford a TV and a bottle of champagne to celebrate. And people say NY'rs aren' t nice.

Thanks Cira **blush**
There really are so many great people in this world ! It was strange because they are both SOO NICE, and they have twin daughters (of their 5 kids), and she was SOO EXCITED to introduce me to a fellow twin. and the daughter, when introduced to me, we were standing in the little corridor of the house, right outside the bathroom, and she WIZZED right by, practically stepping on my foot, and said something like 'uh huh, HI'...(and shes a mom with a few kids !! how immature!) The 'explanation there was that she was so hurt and angry that her parents were selling the house ! She also did a few immature things -Took the SOLD sign off the lawn -Took this little dove statue off the lawn ! (not that I wanted their dove, but she could have mentioned it, and not just taken it, leaving this big spot of dirt ! ) and her mom had told us she would leave us several things (A grill, 2 twin beds for the guest room, a tv and stand, a bench on the front deck, a table and benches to match the back deck, a grill, etc.) We really didnt need or ask for any of these items and thought it was so sweet of her to ask if we'd like them. well her daughter made sure NONE of them were here when we moved in I really didnt care, since it was their stuff, but for her age (late 30's) she sure acted like a child !
Anyway, i didnt hold any of that against her precious parents !

Re: HOW SWEEETTTTT !!!
Anna, that's a real shame about the daughter...sounds like she didn't take after her parents too much! LOL!
Truthfully, it sounds like the people who sold you their home really loved their house, and it became 'part of them.' I would bet you anything that they thought *very carefully* about who they would except an offer from to sell their home.
A real estate agent told me once that buying a home is an emotional decision. I think the same is very true for selling one. You are very lucky to have had such a nice experience with these people...it was truly thoughtful of them to send JA a handmade blanket.
Having just closed on our home last Wednesday and just taken 'possession' on Monday night, I could not help but feel sad for the woman who sold us her home. She only lived there for 13 years, but she recently lost her husband. I can't imagine the saddness she was feeling on Monday when she handed us her keys and walked away.

Re: HOW SWEEETTTTT !!!
Cira, its soo true that its a personal thing. We came here several times, just because we were so anxious and wanted to see the house again. We were in contract in june and closed in Sept. So we had a few 'cups of coffee' with them. (Once or twice that we were in the area with mom or MIL and wanted to show them) The day of the inspection. I was hanging out with her and John was following the inspector around, asking questions. (everything was great, thank God) but she was like 'ahh, whats he trying to find, theres nothing wrong, thats brand new, and thats only 6m old' she felt like her house was being picked on, LOL. Shes soo cute. and her sense of humor is great. So I felt guilty being on the side with John and the inspector so I hung out with her and our RE agent. It was a fun day !!
The first thing she said to me when we met was 'I raised 5 children in this home'...that was soooo sweet !!
When we got compliments on things in the house, or the backyard, I would email them telling them that their home was getting so many compliments! They really did take pride in everything they did. Im so happy for them where they are now. She was showing me pics of her new home..breathtaking...They deserve it.
