How the heck

How the heck

did you BTDT mom's make it through the first few months? I'm 11 weeks, and so freakin tired and just overall sick feeling all day long!!! I want to eat all the time but at the same time, nothing is appealing and everything makes me sick. Thank God I haven't had vomitting, but I have nausea 24/7. I thought it was supposed to get better, but it just seems worse every day!

I'm so NOT happy, and wish I was more excited right now. I thought I'd be thinking of decorating the nursery and all of those kinds of things. I really don't care about anything. I feel fat and disgusting all the time. I somehow make it to work, though I'm surprised I haven't been fired for being such a space brain. I go home and sit on the couch until 9 or 10 and then go to bed. I tried to explain to DH how I feel, and he was so NOT supportive or understanding. He said something like 'that's what happens when you're pg' and 'what'd you expect?' urggg
Thanks for letting me complain here, at least I can be honest with you ladies!

Re: How the heck

Thanks! I am not a mom yet so I can't help you but I really hope you start feeling better soon!!! Isn't supposed to get better after 3 months? At least that is the rumor!

Re: How the heck

Nina, hang in there!! It does get better, I promise! You are still in the rough period of your pregnancy when your hormones are raging, but you don't really look PG yet and you have NO nesting instinct whatsoever.

The second trimester isn't called the 'honeymoon' phase of pregnancy for nothing! LOL! You will start to feel better, not as tired all the time, your belly will start to show, which really does help you not to just feel plain 'ole fat. Nesting, which is the instinct that makes you want to clean EVERYTHING and begin preparing your home, the nursery, etc. for the baby's arrival really doesn't start until the 3rd trimester. But, you'd be wise to get a head start on that stuff now, while you're feeling up to it.

Remember - no matter what, you have a new life inside you right now and you need to rest and allow yourself time to adjust to all the changes your body is making. Pregnancy is wonderful, but every woman has a different experience with it. Try to give yourself a break and remind yourself to enjoy it - good or bad. Like the wedding planning, it goes way too fast!

Re: How the heck (long)!

Nina, I'm not a BTDT Mom, but I am 15 weeks pg and I can tell you I had the same exact thing going on with me. Nauseous 24/7, never sick, some gagging for no apparent reason, starving but once I started eating I lost my appetite, and a feeling of exhaustion that was just unbelieveable -- I totally know where you are coming from. But take it from me you are almost out of the woods!

Now at 15 weeks, I am never nauseous, only gag when I brush my teeth and the tiredness is certainly lessening. I'm still tired, but nowhere near as exhausted as I felt before! Instead, I get worried because I don't 'feel' pregnant anymore! I can't wait for Tuesday to hear the heartbeat again! I don't feel 'honeymoonish' yet, but everyone tells me I will. I'm still in all my own clothes and my appetite had DEFINITELY returned (so not sure how much longer I will be in these clothes!)!!

I can't wait now to feel the baby move and really feel pregnant!! As far as doing anything - I've done nothing. At this point I'm going to wait until after the holidays and then get started on the nursery, registering, etc. I can't possibly do the holidays, and work, and all of that stuff at the same time! I'm exhausted thinking about it!

Just know that it's only a few more weeks (my symptoms started disappearing at about 13 weeks) and soon you will be feeling soooo much better! I can't wait to talk to you about what you are doing in your nursery!!

Re: How the heck (long)!

I don't have much to add to what Claudine said, she said it very well. I will just smile b/c I know you all will be feeling better very very soon. And it's the only time I would ever smile about someone else's nausea or pain b/c I also know it's the only time in your life that all the 'pain and suffering' yield such a wonderful result. Wow, it was only earlier this year but how quickly I forgot how I felt in the beginning. My best friend is 6 weeks PG and she brought me right back to the nausea when I suggested she try a hard candy to help with the nausea - she made this sound like it I suggested the most sickening thing ever....it will pass though.

In the meantime, just honor what your body is asking from you especially with resting. The nausea, sometimes a hard candy or even limes are helpful because of the tartness - if you can stand the tartness it's supposed to help. I never tried the lime but I had alot of lollypops in the first trimester. Once it passes, you will start to be amazed by the goofy cravings. But since you are all nauseous, we'll save that conversation for another time.

(((BIG HUGS TO ALL OUR MOMMIES-TO-BE)))

So much for not having anything to add LOL

Edited to add: I can't wait till you all post and let us know when you feel the baby moving. It really is the greatest feeling!

Hi Nina! I'm 19 weeks pregnant and trust me, I know exactly how you're feeling. For me, the nausea ended at about 14 weeks. I was vomiting AND fainting a lot too, which was awful. IT DOES GET BETTER! I can totally relate to the whole 'tired' issue too...I had to take a nap after work each day or else I couldn't function! Hang in there and be reassured that it does get much better!!!

Think of it like this- thousands of women wish they could feel what you do, even the getting sick part. You are very, very blessed to be pregnant, so embrace the good and the not-so-great parts of it and enjoy it. It only lasts a short time.

Re: How the heck

I feel for all you ladies going through the beginning stages of pregnancy. I am the proud mommy to a beautiful 5 month old baby girl. I remember the morning sickness... it was more like morning, afternoon, night, middle of the night sickness, anyway it gets better. I ate to get rid of the feeling. When your stomach is empty its worse. I ate for 18 straight weeks almost all the time, small meals, I also gained 20lbs in that time because carbs were the only thing that filled me up.

It all goes away though. Then you feel the little person inside you move and you know its all worth it. Then you start peeing every 15 minutes and your feet become a distant memory... but the end result is the most amazing gift anyone could ever get. I had dd via c/s after 21 hours of labor (which hurts like a b*tch but it could be MUCH worse)(cord was around her neck and heart rate wasnt doing too great with the contrax). But with all that aside you have this perfect little baby in your arms whose only wish is to be snuggled and loved by you. Congrads to all you future mommies... may you get all the rest you can now because sleep as you know it is OVER

Re: How the heck

I'm sooo glad I'm not alone! I'm 8 weeks along and I too was constantly sleepy! I was always feeling sick and always hungry but couldn't find anything I wanted to eat. My husband would complain that I'm not eating enough. I tried to explain but I don't think they really understand. THE GOOD NEWS IS IT DOES END! For the past 2 days I've been feeling much better! I'm eating again and don't have that sick feeling so much. I'm still sleepy though!
