How' this for a party?

How' this for a party?

Since Oprah has said that it is not proper to re-gift....I was thinking of having a potluck dinner combined with Cut-throat Christmas (like a grab bag, but you can steal the other persons gift) and asking my friends to bring a re-gift (or a gift they didn't want...wrapped. What do you think ? What would you call it?

i think thats fabulous...what a fun idea....just as long as your friends arent stuffy and have a great sense of humor

um maybe call it, Refund&Exchange party

or BrideSwap (like the tv show Wife swap)

there is a name for the game. its called white elephant. how it works is everyone brings a wrapped gift that they do not have the heart to get rid of. you all pick a number from say 1 -10 out of a hat. the 1st person goes. 2nd person can take the 1st persons gift and so on. after the last person goes the 1st person gets to go one last time. we played it at a work party.

Oh I have three gifts I can bring. Maybe I will need to have my own party!

my dad played that at work. The only thing is, if the person who gave you the gift that you dont want is there, they get to see you give away the gift. ETA: but thats sounds like a cool idea. Maybe the LIW girls should do it at a GTG. Just a thought. As long as it is not a bowl or a vase. you know the one that went around during hte holidays or that purse

that's it! I'll call it a Trash or Treasure party who wants to come? Maybe we can combine it with the Suffolk GTG?

Then I will be sure not to offend anyone because the gift givers will not be there!

If LIW does this as a group we should call Oprah and tell her! I bet they'd send a crew!

We did this at work a long time ago with the worst gifts we got. Really funny and some people actually got something they could use. I got a curley fry maker They called it something else though- not white elephant- something with Chinese in it.

I did this for a grab bag gag...bring something you should have thrown out years ago. Everyone had to pick something and guess who brought it! It was a riot what everyone brought...except DH the pack rat wanted to keep it all
