Address an invitation for a BBQ at my mom's house that will kind of be like an engagement party but geared towards more of my FH's family and mine to meet and get to know each other a little but more since my mom and brother are the only one's who really know his family

I would love to hear responses on this. We didn't want an engagement party but would like to have a meeting of the immediate families bbq/celebrate engagement. I look forward to hearing how you go about it and if I think of any thing I'll pass it along.
