how to address...

how to address...

an envelope w/ this situation:

Jane Smith had a son before getting married, John Smith (after he maiden name)

Jane Smith then married Joe Webster (not the father of John)... Jane Smith became Jane Webster. But we don't know if John Smith became John Webster, or remained John Smith.

All three of them are invited.

Do we just write 'The Webster Family' or 'The Smith/Webster Family'???

ETA: We only have an outer envelope, no inner.

I think I would address the couple on the outside envelope and then on the inside write all three first names?

can you ask them what the son's last name is?

How old is the son? Can you send him his own invite? Chances are his name hasn't changed.

I would put 'The Webster Family' on the outer envelope and then their first names on the inner envelope. If you're just doing outer then just 'The Webster Family'

We had a very similar situation, made worse by the fact that one of the daughters was from a previous marriage and the other daughter is from the current marriage. We put Mr. & Mrs. Webster & Family.
