How to address invites?

Mr. and Mrs. Smith
or
Mr. John and Mrs Susan Smith
or
Mr. and Mrs. John Smith?

How about single people?
Ms. Susan Smith and Guest
Or
Susan Smith and Guest.

What did you girls do for addressing envelopes?

So did I!

If you know the couple & they are not married it's
Ms Jane Doe & Mr. John Smith

or vice versa depending on who's house you are sending it to!

Do you write 'Mr. John Smith and Guest' on front w/ address if you dont know the name of who they are bringing?

I think that the front of the actual outside envelope is supposed to read just Mr. John Smith and then the inner is supposed to read Mr. John Smith and Guest. But if you don't have an inner envelope, then just use Mr. John Smith and Guest on the outer

Re: How to address invites?

Just to further confuse you (LOL!), my invitation lady told me that the most formal way to address the inner envelope would be:

Mr. and Mrs. John Smith
or
Mr. John Smith and Guest (if single)

The less formal way is:
John and Mary Smith
or
John Smith and Guest (single)

Both are acceptable, it just depends on how formal you want to be. In her words, 'it sets the tone.'

We used the most formal way for everyone but for the bridal party we used the least formal:
John and Mary
