lets say someone was going to break up with you.. would you rather hear the truth 'im just not into you the same way, or we r not in the same place right now' or would you take more comfort in knowing that this person is getting back together with an ex they dated for a long time...(even if its a lie but you dont know its a lie)
i do not like this part of dating, im a nice person, i hate hurting other pple!!!

Re: how to 'break up with someone'
Just lie to me so I don't have to feel so bad about being dumped

I guess it depends on how long you've been dating. If not too long, then yes lie like LADYL said.

how's about a mixture? 'I'm not over my ex. I thought I was, but I'm just not ready to jump into another relationship until I get over him.'

I have used this before and it worked. Like you, I don't like lying nor hurting people....so this was sorta the case at the time...but not really. It worked though and gosh I felt a heck of a lot better!!

I'd rather here that he doesn't have the same feelings for me than he's choosing someone else over me.

Be honest- I think I'd rather hear the 'I don't think we are right for each other' than the 'I am getting back with my ex'. Then he might hold out hope that it does not work with the ex and you will get back together.
Good luck!

it feels shytty being dumped.... being dumped for someone else feels even more shytty.... i wouldnt tell him that.
you can say that youre confused, or something, but i wouldnt tell him youre getting abck with your Ex... especially sine you dont want to hurt him.

I have to say that I'd rather hear the truth, in the end for your end at least you know that you were honest. I really wouldn't want to hear that your going back to an ex -

Would i rather hear that the guy i am dating is going to another girl ....HELL NO
AND i am shocked someone would actually say they would want to hear that
I would rather be told that he is not in the same place as me right now...

Just be honest and say that you realized that you want different things and that's it.

I'm sorry but I would hate this!! This sounds like such a line of crap.
Tell me the truth, don't lie and tell me you're leaving me for someone else which, IMO, is even more hurtful!
