How to Buy a Wedding Dress???

How to Buy a Wedding Dress???

I need some advice. I think I found my dress last weekend, and I'm going back on Sunday to try it on again and buy it. I'm just feeling a little nervous about making such a big purchase: I mean, before I bought a car, for example, I shopped around, checked out prices from a bunch of dealers on the internet, and knew EXACTLY how much the car was worth and how much I wanted to spend for it. I'm a terrible negotiator, but this gave me confidence, because I felt like I knew what I was doing. Two questions:

1. How do I get prices like that for a dress? Can I just call up stores and say, 'How much are you selling Paloma Blanca 3606 for?'

2. I found the dress at Lillette's - have any of you talked down the price there at all? Like, buy paying in full at the outset or bringing in quotes from other places or anything?

This is so much money and I want to make sure I'm doing what I can not to overpay!

Phyllis at Bridal Elegance will give you a price quote over the phone, as well as Carol from Burton's. call them up and ask.

i don't blame you for being nervous about the purchase! but call a few places and see what they say!

Thanks for the response; that's just the kind of thing I was wondering. I'll call RK Bridal now and see how much they're selling it for.

If you dont mind buying your gown online, you can email Nora at netbride.com the dress designer and style number, and she will place an order for you straight through the manufacturer and itll come brand new in your size within 4-6 months, you'll just have to get it altered by yourself. I ordered my watters BM dresses from Nora for $135 a piece, the bridal stores wanted $220 plus alterations. Netbride.com guarentees to give the lowest possible price. Definitly also call up RK bridal and see what they can do.

Thanks, I just e-mailed Netbride to get a quote! I don't know if I want to buy online, but I'd love to know what the lowest price would be for the dress, so I'm armed with info for when I go back to the store.

I second Bridal Elegance!! I found my dress at Lillette's and the dress through them was $790 (before the $50 discount they give you) and it was $680 through Bridal Elegance.....also Lillette's alterations for brides are capped at $295, and that doesn't include your bustle- that's an extra $100 or so......at B.E.- it's $175 cap and that includes a simple bustle (one that goes straight up, more elaborate ones are a little more, but her pricing seems to be reasonable).

E-mail them at [email protected]. good luck!!

Also if you look at the knot's web site under gowns they give you the approxomite cost of the dress so you can know if your dress shop is totally off base, but I didnt run into that in my experience
