Yes I have a contract but it just says if I completely cancel I lose my deposit. but i am keeping them for video

you can def say that you decided to go in a different direction...that's not rude or anything and they still have you for video so they shouldn't be annoyed really

Telling them you're going in a different direction is completely adequent especially if you're still keeping them for video. Good luck!!

i think that is the most professional and least confrontational way... also, you might want to say you are still definitely using them for video...
