How to Decorate My Slipper Basket?

For my slipper basket (its very wide and oval shaped)....

i wanted to either do:

chocolate brown velvet large piece of fabric in it so that it covers the entire baskets and drapes onto the floor (or wherever i put it) and maybe like a gold sheer overlay

OR

Spray paint the basket like ametallic brown (i saw it done before it come out really nice)

geez joanna your on that already and you were impressed with what i was getting done lol good for you

i say the paint so you dont have to worry about the fabic moving and looking messed up. i know that would annoy me but im OCD about that type of stuff so maybe its just me lol

What about if you spray it then use the velvet for just the bottom and the rest to drape it around it like into a bow?

Ohh I like this idea. It would probably be easy to just spray it and then use some of the fabric for a bow in the front.

lmaooo i do things backwards... but i bought some slippers and bought the baskets and they look so blah right now lol so i feel the urge to bedazzle them

i should seriously just get the glitterator and call it a day

Rosa - how would i drape it in a bow? like around the width?

yeah but if its a wicker basket you might be able to pin it in place from the inside to make it stay the way you want...or use pip cleaners!

geez your so smart!!!! this is why i am completely horrid at anything involving the slightest DIY... i seriously hope these skills dont translate into the cooking dept

I am not creative at all...but I teach special ed and I try to find projects to differentiate for my visual learners...so I get all these ideas from work...lol.

i think i like the idea of painting it...Then maybe take the fabric and depending on how the top of the basket is, weave the ribbon around the top and then make a big pretty bow

i say paint it and if the need for glitter is strong, dip the whole basket in glue and go to town with a bottle of glitter.

just be careful with what kind of spray paint, because i know some of them can dry 'sticky' which is not really nice...

i dont know which those are of course, so just read the back of the can for the material or maybe ask at a craft store..

i was going to spray paint it a metallic brown and use gold organza baggies

the stickyness is th eonly thing im afraid of
