'How To' For loose curls <3333

Original post by anamaree77

I got a few requests for how I got my hair to curl for the shower and figured i'd post in case anyone is interested. I know alot of girls get intimidated by rollers and I promise you, it is the easiest thing EVERRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

First off, invest in Hot Rollers....I LOVE THEM! Not the new ones that are spongey, I love the old fashioned plastic rollers if you can find them (Larger ones, not tight curls).

Start off with your hair just dried regular, don't dry it straight. I usually throw some Paul Mitchell leave in conditioner, it's called 'The Conditioner' and some Biosilk, but you can use whatever you like. It usually works better if I wash my hair the night before, easier to work with.

Take your hair in sections, it doesn't have have to perfect or measured.....Just take chunks and wrap them in the rollers. Don't wrap them all the way to your scalp, just above half way so the bottoms are wavy. Let it sit for about 15 minutes til they cool.

As you take the rollers out, blast the curls with a little hair spray and when all the rollers are out, give the curls an overall blast of hair spray.

If I have time, I take my hair straightener and straighten the front pieces a little but not necessary or if i'm going somewhere nice I take a regular curling iron and fix a few pieces but it's totally NOT necessary.

I think the most important thing is to find a good hairspray that moves but holds...I like sebastian.

It seems so much harder than it is....Hot Rollers are the best. If it's a bad hair day, I sometimes just throw them in my hair and get in the car for work, pull them out by the time I get there and it's done.

Let me know if anyone tries it!

With a curling iron, it takes so long and the curls never seem to stay for me. Something about the heat from the hot rollers and how you let them cool off while your hair is wrapped REALLY makes them stay curled. If you have fine hair, i'd throw some mousse in your hair before you dry it to give it body and hold. Also, give your hair a small shot of hair spray before curling. I have to o that sometimes.

Try Sally's Beauty Supply....I know they have one in Lindenhurst...i'm not sure where else? There must be other locations.

oh yeah i know where that is, ill go there maybe after work

thanks!!!

hahahhahhaa I absolutley LOVE doing hair. I completed 2 years of hair school and won a few competitions...started working for a great salon and then was in a car accident and seriously messed up my knee. I couldn't stand for all those hours anymore so now I just do it in my spare time.

I totally love doing hair. I wish I could show you guys how good the hair can come out, I was in such a rush that day and had to share the bathroom with Stepdaughter and MIL

I can't wait to see everyone's pics!

your so lucky you have the 'how to' knowledge about hair..im clueless..it always looks the same

I love hot rollers, its the only way I curl my hair. Curling irons never work for me.

I always use a curling iron, but I have a LOT of hair and it's long so it takes me forever. I've been meaning to invest in hot rollers - can anyone recommend any??

I found these - not sure which one is best:
List of Hot Roller - any of these good??

Also, in looking for hot rollers online, I ran across this video on how-to curl your hair with rollers if anyone needs a step by step guide:

I would probably go with the second to last set. Ooh, I like that you could buy the comfort clips now. My set has the pins. Sometimes its hard when they're still really hot. It looks easier to use the clips.

Many thanks. I have naturally curly hair that I usually straighten. I like the look of soft curls but have been intimidated by rollers. Now, not so much. You make it sound so easy.

Thanks! My hair never comes out right with curlers, and the curls always fall out.
