How to get on the road to a healthly lifestyle?? Help!
Every morning on the way to work I say when I get home I am gonna go on my tredmill or ride my bike (that I never use) or simply go for a walk - but by the time I get home I end up doing none of the above, and just lounge around all night (and smoke a million cigs)
I really want to start a healthier lifestyle, just can't find the motivation to do so. Even my eating habits could use a change.
Any words of encouragment????
TIA

Most of that is what I do except smoke, and I just keep telling myself tomorrow is another day.
Seriously just make it a point to do it. Ive been telling myself I would do situps with my boys and 4 years later still have not done it. I try though but between screaming to do this or that it is hard and all your energy is drained. Just make it a point to tell yourself in the morning and when you leave work your plans for the day I noticed for me that works for remembering things and doing things

the beginning is sooo hard to get motivated but u hafta push urself threw the ruff spot and it gets so much easier.
i would pick a date in the near future to be day 1. (i always need a starting point)... then i would prepare for that day..start by mayb cleaning the apartment( u cant think clearly in clutter) organize the bills..then do a 'healthier start food shopping' try not to buy sweets..then i would make a budget for cigs and how many u want for each day..so once ur done for the day ur done..then as for the exercising, start small..do crunches during commercial breaks, take the stairs...i think exercise is the biggest pain in the butt but so worth it..then u can build up to 15..then to 30 mins on the treadmill 3 times a week (pick specific days, so u have structure) its awesome u want a better lifestyle!! go for it, im here for more q's if u have any.. :)goodluck

How do you get to and from work?
If you take a train - can you get off the stop before and walk home? That helps.
Nicotine patch or gum maybe?
Sometimes you have to say 'I have to leave the housework until later' and just go and WALK.
Most of the time when I walk after work, I have more energy to do housework when I get back, than when I just come home straight from work and flop on the couch.
Once you get into walking on a schedule you might not feel the need to smoke that much.
good luck!!

I work in the city, I do walk to and from Penn to my job then take the LIRR home. Then drive home. It's just when I get home, I am so tired and just want to relax.
As for the patch, I've tried it. The thing is, that I don't smoke at work or in the morning, only at night when I am home so when I put the patch on in the morning it makes me nauseous. And if I wait to the afternoon to put it on, there is no guarantee that I'll really do it - I don't know - maybe I'm just a lost cause

It is soooo hard to get started - but I decided one day that I needed a little 'me' time! I have a 6 year old son - so to find that time is very hard. But I choose to do the treadmill as soon as I walk in the door from work, before anything else, before homework, dinner, bathtime, I do nothing until I am finished with the treadmill. I am on there for 45 minutes and when I'm finished I have a clearer head and can function better, I don't feel as stressed anymore. It works for me, but I have to do it as soon as I come home or else I will never get to do it!!! Good Luck - I know it is very hard getting started but you will feel better once you do!! Oh and I am a smoker (trying to quit, its just too hard!) but from the time I come in from work I don't smoke anymore. Plus it makes it harder to breath when running!!
