How to get people to the church - not JUST the reception
our priest suggested to all of us brides at pre-cana that we put something on the invites that 'it would mean a lot to us if everyone attended both the ceremony and the reception'....he said in the past he as seen empty churches b/c no one wants to sit through church they just want to go to the party.
anyone know how to avoid and empty church? is that tacky to put that on your invite? how would you word it??

That is a tough one. In my case, we are getting married on a Friday the Church being at 4:00 so it may be tough for a lot of peopel to come, I know that th epopel who mean a lot to us and vice cersa will definately get there and than attend the reception at 7:00. I don't know what you do about that? We all hope everyone will make both if possible but it's not liek we can force anyone or insist on it ?

This will be a problem for me too. My church & reception are far from each other.
The people who have a connection to the church will be there. We are providing a bus from church to reception & back....and we had chruch closer to where most ppl live.

I was thinking I may have the same problem since there is a large time gap. I figure the people I want most will be there.

Maybe just include church info and not Reception info. When they arrive at church have ushers hand out recepiton info.

yep, only one real way to ensure people attend... have almost no time gap between the church and hall, and have them near eachother.
our ceremony begins at 11am, with most pics beforehand. The CH begins at 12:30..... the church and hall are really close...
