HI there. I will be having 2 judges at my wedding and am trying to figure out how to word the placecards.
I found this info online which I used for the invitations:
OUTER: The Honorable John Doe
INNER: Judge Doe
But nothing for how to word the placecard.
Any thoughts?

Re: How to handle a Judge?
I'd recommend listing the placecard as: 'Honorable John Doe'.
I'm just thinking that cause I'm a lawyer, and when I'm in court and they announce the judge when he's walking in, they always say the 'Honorable John Doe' presiding. So I'd just go with that for a placecard.

I'm not sure, but isn't a judge called 'Honorable' or 'Your Honor' only in court? In real life is he/she just Mr. or Mrs?

Yeah usually a judge is really only called 'your honor' or 'honorable' in court mostly, but many times people use their job titles in personal settings. Like I know a lot of doctors are addressed as 'Dr. John Doe' on invites. And I've gotten invites addressed to me with 'Esq' after it. To me I laugh cause I'm like please, I so don't care about having 'Esq' added to my name on invites or placecards, but it's cute. I think a lot of people like judges, doctors, lawyers, etc, like having that title added with their invites because it's a prestigious thing.

Re: How to handle a Judge?
Do you think it would be ok if I just did 'Judge John Doe' instead of 'The Honorable John Doe'?THe placecards are small... 'Judge' just takes up less room. Dont want to offend anyone though....

I think writing Judge John Doe would be ok. Cause you're still using the title to acknowledge he/she is a judge, so that should be fine.

Judge Doe is fine for the placecard. The inner and outer listings are correct, too.

Re: How to handle a Judge?
I would advise you to put Hon. .......name....
If honorable takes too long. It would be imporper to use Judge (am in lawschool and asked a proffesor and thats the answe they gave me).

This is correct. It is better to abbreviate to Hon. than to change it to Judge.
