How to handle invitation 'B' lists?

How to handle invitation 'B' lists?

As much as I hate doing it, we're going to have to have a 'B' list for invitations...my FMIL is asking for 15+ couples (friends) to be added to the invite list for our 150ppl max wedding. We're at 160+ w/o her list, so at least half will end up on a 'B' mailing list.

Any suggestions on how to handle this? How do you time this out? When do you set the cut of time for mailing out B list invites if you haven't gotten back enough No replies?

I have read that some brides ordered invites with 2 different RSVP dates.

Say 95% of the invites with one RSVP date 4 - 5 weeks before the wedding and 5% of the invites with an RSVP date 2 - 3 weeks before the wedding. Invites are to be sent 8 - 10 weeks before the wedding date so that will determine when you send invites to the A list v. B list people

Ideally it still leaves a week before the wedding to track down any missing RSVP's

i didn't do all that. i mailed out my invites two months before and then i let the no's come in and as they did, i chose a couple off teh b list and sent there's out, so there was still plenty of time to rsvp

So that left you with enough time, you know people procrastinate. But is ounds like a good idea.
