I have 25 days left and about 20 invites who did not respond yet. I have already surpassed my minimum. Do I have to call these people to find out the deal? I have to give in final count on 10/7.
I know, what happens if they show up- but why should I stress myself to hunt people down? You don't respond- you don't eat! (that's terrible right!)
If people respond after 10/7, I'm just going to let them know that its too late.
Everyone close to me has already responded- only people I haven't heard from is my father's family- no idea if they will come or not.
I know I should probably call but this is so annoying
How are you handling?

Re: How to handle Non- Responders (with poll)
i say call once- don't call more than once - one message should be sufficient reminder - they can just leave you a message - do not play phone tag

wait until october 1st-- you may get more responses by then and not have to call as many people.

If you have surpassed your minimum I wouldn't worry too much...Call once or have someone call and if you do not get them then forget about it! I mean how difficult is it to sned a response card they are all ready stamped

Definitely call!! I was once invited to a wedding, and on the day of the wedding my MOH bumped into the groom and he asked her why I never responded - I never got the invitation!! And since he didn't call to find out, I didn't get to go.

WHOA!!!!According to most caterers, an RSVP date of two-three weeks is fine. We, as brides, tend to do more --we want to know --often we have other things like favors to plan based on final head count BUT you should get the info. This is NOT a job for you. Pick someone who has not been saddled with too much from the bp and have them make the calls. What they say is simple. If they get a live person, easy. If they get a VM/machine 'Hi this is xoxo calling about the Jones/Schmidt wedding. Our caterer requires a final tally by pick the next day and we have not heard if you/your spouse will attend. Please call this number today to let us know if ou will be attending; alternately we will assume that regrettably, you will not be able to make it.' Thank you.

Re: How to handle Non- Responders (with poll)
my mother called the non-responders for my sister's wedding last year. none of them responded yes, but they were long lost relatives and friends from an old job. probably shouldn't have invited them in the first place.

I would definitely call once just as a courtesy to both you and them. I agree with Deb that if you allocate the responsibility to calling people to somone else do it. We had our parents make some of the phone calls because the people we hadn't heard from they knew better than us. We had the opposite problem in that we did not make our minimum, so everyone had to be called.

If you can, delegate it to someone else to call....this is not a stress you need to deal with so close to your day. Ask either an aunt or maybe a related BM or something. If after a call they do not respond, oh well, you should have responded

I would have your mom call the people on your list and FMIL call FI's list. I hate when people do not respond to things, it is rude

Can we just start a new rule? If you don't respond by the date the bride is allowed to hunt you down and shoot you? How hard is filling out the card and dropping it in the mail

Have someone else call. You need to know for peace of mind. If they get the call and they can't answer on the spot, count them as a no.
After that, I would consider them 'no's', and if they dare to show up, they will feel pretty stupid when they see no seating card for them.

I totally agree. Luckily we are not at that point and won't be for awhile. But many friends have gotten married recently and this was always a headache.
Just take a deep breath and try the one phonecall as the reminder. It may be possible that they didn't get the invitation or even the response got lost in the mail.

Don't call more than once. One message should be a good enough reminder.I am sure they are capable of leaving you a message!
