How To Handle Photo Packages

How To Handle Photo Packages

Our families are splitting the cost of the wedding. That being said, my father made the suggestion that we split the cost of the photographer right down the middle and pick the basic package. From there, he'd pay for any extras he wants for himself, and my FH's parents would pay for any extras they want. I thought that was fair. After all, if he wants one album and they want 10, why should he have to pay for half of that, right?

What do you girls think? FH's mother is irritated by my father's logic and my FH doesn't understand either. Be honest -- is my father wrong?

That sounds fair to me, logical. What's not to understand?

That definitely sounds fair, especially after reading your post about visiting vendors with your FILs.

I agree, sounds fair to me.

We paid for our photographer and we are just doing the extras/add ons later ourselves after we get our negatives.

GOOD LUCK!!

Yes, your Dad is missing a VERY important point.

Post-contract pricing goes WAY UP. If things are included *in* the package/contract when you sign, the prices are significantly more reasonable.

Express this concern to the photographer you choose, and they might be able to help you break down the price for your families.

Sounds more than fair...I would just suggest deciding what those 'extras' are before you sign the contract to make sure they go into it...afterwards it costs more $$ to add.

I agree..the packages are put together for a reason. If you break it out, you will see that the price goes up after the fact. Pick a package that's a little more beefy and it will end up costing both sides less in the end.
