I have a friend whose girl kept emailing him pics of rings and wanted to get engaged. He was in love with her so he figured it was the right move. He changed his life in order to open it up to her and her child. He took out a mortgage to purchace a home for them to live in and everything. She had a family tragedy and now no longer wants him. She called off the wedding and is going to move out of state. With every day his life just seems to be getting worse. I can't afford to help him financially and just feel helpless. I have offered him a place to escape to for a meal or to just get away from her. Any ideas on what i can say or do to try and help him? Sorry its long but i just feel like everything I do or say to him is wrong. I actually feel guilty that my relationship and wedding plans are progressing while his is ending. Thanks for any help.

i have a friend who was with her bf for years and years and once her mother died, she did the same thing - dumped him, picked up and moved to the other end of the country. i guess i never really thought about her bf must have felt, because i was her friend. but i can only imagine what your friend must be going through. unfortunately, i'm not sure you can do anything for him. except exactly what you are doing... being there for him. to your friend. and to you; it's always painful to watch someone you care about, go through pain - and you can't take it away.

I have tried to be there for him as best I can. It just makes me angry that she has known for months its not what she wanted but still settled her and her child into his house, went through with an engagement party and evrything while knowing that this is not what she wanted. He is still holding out hope that they will work things out. I think he should cut his losses and move on but thats easy for me to say its not my relationship falling apart. I was thinking of whipping up some comfort foods to drop by the house. I am just afraid i will see her there and not be able to hold my tonge. I dont think guys want flowers so any ideas of what I can send him to make him smile?
