How to hotfix crystals??

ok, this may be a dumb question, but I bought the jewels brand crystals from Michaels, but first of all, they're not as shiny and second, they don't stick!!

I want to get the swarovsky crystals with flat backs but how do I glue them on? Is there a special glue that I should be getting???

TIA!!!

There is a special glue you can buy called Jewel-It glue. I got mine at AC MOORE but i think you can find it at any craft shop....it works great !!

i think that you need the wand for hotfix. it's supposed to heat up the crystal and activate the glue. i'm pretty sure that's how it works but you can call michaels and maybe they can tell you specifically. i saw the wands in the city for $20.

I agree with the above post, im pretty sure its a wand because I ordered mine from e-bay and i remember reading that the wand prevented the glue from getting all over the place

I've done this.....if you use the glue you have to be really careful NOT to get in on the face of the crystal... if you do it will stay there and the crystal will not be shiney!!! GL!!!!

i'm sure this is a dumb question, but what's a wand?? what does it look like? I went to michaels' yseterday and found a glue for crystals but I'm not sure it's the same as the wand?

The wand that the above posts are talking about is a heat tool specifically for Hotfix crystals. AC Moore also has Fire & Ice Sworovski crystals. Basically, the fire crystals need the heat tool (sold seperately) to activate the adhesive and the ice crystals require no heat. A crystal glue such as Gem-Tac or anything similar would be needed instead. HTH.
